TOMMY LEE Performs With University Of Nebraska Marching Band: Photos Available
October 16, 2004Omaha's WOWT.com is reporting that drummer Tommy Lee played plenty of stadium shows with his rock group MÖTLEY CRÜE, but none quite like Saturday (Oct. 16) when he joined the University of Nebraska marching band during its halftime performance. Lee has been on campus for the taping of an NBC reality show. He is taking classes, including chemistry and the history of rock and roll. Lee didn't march into the stadium with the band before the Nebraska-Baylor game, but the 42-year-old joined them in the stands in full uniform, bobbing his head and playing along with the other drummers. "Oh yeah, it's real different," he said. "That was awesome, absolutely great." It may have been the only time a rock 'n' roller put on a marching band uniform after making it big.
Lee had been practicing with senior band drummer Ben Coleman all week and since the band has standards, there was no guarantee that Lee would perform at halftime, TV reality show or not. "It came down to yesterday before we felt he's confident enough, with enough going for him we can feel good about letting him on the field," said Coleman. Read more.
